I won't loose any sleep over the licence business it will mean I need to use the channel changer more often  :D

On the plus side, BBC radio. :)

And the great thing is you don't need a license for BBC radio :)

I do not have a catch-up facility, and cannot listen to the radio, because I am too deaf.   I only have basic stations with three or four freeviews.   Now I am alone, it is a very long evening to sit without the tv on, and I have to use the sub-titles anyway. I try to record a few things during the day time schedules and perhaps watch them later - although I nearly know them all word for word.  :D :D  Mrs Bouquet

True - but it needs to be funded which comes from the licence fee.

I can watch BBC channels live as there are no adverts.

All other channels I have to record so that I can flick through the endless advert breaks

I just about still believe that £3 per week represents good value, if only to be able to watch some channels live without the mostly mindless ads, although the wonderful Youview box does make everything to do with recording and skipping through ads much easier than in the old DVD and VHS days (especially the latter!)

Seem to remember reading somewhere that the BBC don't verify those signing on to i-player claiming to possess a TV licence, although apparently that could (and probably should) change in the future.

Can't help thinking that the current system is starting to look a bit outdated and not really in tune with how an increasing number of people 'consume' their visual entertainment...

Our BBC Breakfast news comes from Manchester, and I do like their presenters because they are all really nice chums who you can watch to catch up with what's going on in the world without getting in a strop. As for the ever-increasing repeats of c**p films I have quite a large collection of DVDs including Poirot, Morse, Wallace and Gromit, and other dear ones that I often play depending on the mood I'm in at the time. Thank God I can do that or I would probably be in a strait-jacket by now!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

We haven't watched the BBC News since about September 2017, and always feel so much better for it. I do sometimes listen to R5 Dead if I can't sleep though, but that's pretty dire too.

Our news comes from Ipad Headlines, or the few blogs which specialise in telling the truth rather than just squirt opinions at everyone. Online papers fill in a few gaps, and we're left to our own devices for the rest of the day, without screeching foobooll 'commentators', and uninformed scaremongers, ranting about things they know little about!

I'll be 75 in a few years time, and will feel so much better about not letting our pensions go to overpaid 'resenters', very weak 'comedians' and pretty poor service.

We don't actually know anyone who listens or watches much on the BBC these days, there are so many alternatives!

I suspect free for over 75 will be withdrawn.

Mother in Law says she got her free licence the other day was only valid for one year, used to be longer.

Picked up another letter from them at ML's old place today. I think that's the third "you're under investigation" letter this year, might be 2 "investigation" and 1 "gentle reminder" each time I've filled in the notv section on their website   Their going to make me pick up a phone aren't they.

if you are over 75 you still need a licence and have to apply for it annually as usual.  You just don't have to pay for it!!!!!

No licence for 18 years and not missing it at all. I get an online declaration thingy every 3-5 yrs to confirm I’m still not wasting my valuable time on watching rubbish.

I have a fine dvd collection of what interests me.  You’d be amazed at the low prices charged for 2nd DVD’s online. And Netflix give me anything I might fancy

Most of all I’ve gained time!
