Title: debris netting

never used any of this stuff before but am looking to get a roll off ebay.

does it let sufficient light through and does the colour of the net affect the amount of light getting through?

the options are for yellow, blue, black or green

im kind of guessing the colour wont affect too much, but thought someone on here might know

I was wondering if it would be good for keeping birds off the cabbagy plants and strawberries. Will be following this thread with bated breath !!!

Post by: shaun on March 16, 2008, 17:32: i have used it with no problems at all,its not very wide about 1.5m but all i do is make small arches out of blue water pipe and tie it on with cable ties.

Post by: compo on March 16, 2008, 19:21: I used it for the fruit cage, 2m x 50m off ebay, it does stretch to 2.5m though, and it has the black webbing on each edge so you can use nails or screws to attach it. It seems to stop a lot of the wind, but my razzers and other fruit have stayed damp according to meter readings, so lets rain through fine. Have also used it for onion and leek bed just as mentioned before using the poly pipes, works a treat.

jeese grannie i'm not going to buy it when i work on building sites :wink: mine might be 2m actually,it can be pain when you want to remove it for weeding etc but like i said its just the job for over your brassicas to keep those butterflies off,some chap on our plot made a fence out of it for his carrots to stop the fly and it worked just fine.

Post by: beansticks on March 17, 2008, 14:43: Use green,it is more pleasing on the eye.I bought mine 3mt wide x 20mt long,cut it in half and stitched the two pieces together to make a net 6mt x10 mt.You can use stakes with a yoghurt bottle on top to raise it up off the floor.The bottles stop it fraying due to abrasion.Sides and ends can be weighed down with bricks to stop it blowing away.Have had mine 4 years and it works a treat
