perennials should i cut them back

hi i grew alot of perennials last year from seed rudbeckia and echinacea lovely flowering plants now they are dying away very slowly should i cut them to the ground or just let them die away naturally thanks ricky

Have you seen the RHS advice on cutting them back?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
