Where to buy a greenhouse
« on: January 27, 2009, 13:45 »
I'm thinking of getting a 6' x 8' greenhouse.

Where would people recomend to buy one online?

Also, are there any types to avoid?

Have been doing that, all i've seen is a 4x6 in the last 6 weeks.
Hence decided to buy.

I have seen a few in your area in recent weeks on Flea bay.
Suggest at least 6x10 min if you have the space and pocket.
Also consider raising it on a plinth, most are only 5ft at eaves!
  Happy choosing....Bob

Thanks Bobby,
Only enough room for 6x8 at the moment.
Was planning on digging small trench, putting sand in to level and the using wood plinth on that.

Hi everyone, have'nt been on here for over a year due to a bereavment, but just had a look and saw the request of where to buy a greenhouse, well I have been searching the admags, freecycle and ebay for the past 6 months with no joy (one on ebay 8x6 went for £156 plus the cost of getting a van) so I went to B&Q and paid £197 for an 8x6, I must say the greenhouse will not be going to my allotment, staying put in my garden. Hope this helps.

Hi bonjives,
Sorry to hear of your bereavment. I know how it is, dad died just before Christmas.

The GH you got from B&Q, is that the green one with polycarb glazing?

Hi Penance, thanks for the message,(it was my hubby that passed away and it's really knocked me for six) anyway about the greenhouse- 8x6 alluminium (not the green one) horticultural glass, I would'nt buy the polycarbonate as the panels are not very rigid, the guy at B&Q did'nt recommend it either, must say I did'nt get the base that was another £80 so I am building 2 rows of bricks, (free, nephew a builder) that should take my mind off things.

Thanks again,
I've been looking at one online and its 257 including base and hort glass, so comparable to the B&Q one when you get a base with it.
No building skills here so a base would be quite useful.

Hope all goes well and you get plenty of joy from your greenhouse!
