Title: Help -how to level a slope!!
Post by: vin1602 on December 14, 2014, 15:43
Hi. Am new to this site. We have (at last) a local allottment and need to level an area approx 4 metres square. This part of the allotment has a slope/drop of approx 9-10  inches. We will not cultivate this area but put a shed in one corner and probably shingle on the remaining area.
Does anyone have any advice as to the best way to make a level surface - currently infested with weeds but we will put a membrane down once levelled.
Many thanks for helpful advice
Vin1602, new to gardening and allotments but with a VERY keen wife

Paving slabs sunk into the ground about 50% and bank the soil up against those?   :) Cheers,   Tony.

Hi Debbie and Vin, and welcome to the forum.

Hope you get lots of enjoyment out of chatting to the rest of us, and it'll be good to hear about your  progress with your new plot.

Couple of things to ask:

Would you mind adding your locality into both your profiles please so it shows by your names? This way any responses to questions about growing etc can better take local conditions into account.

And if you can, please introduce yourselves in the Welcome section, as then lots of members will know who you are and say a big Hello!!

No doubt I shall see you around in the forum  :D Hope so anyway!
