Mili´s ears (our kitten)
« on: June 08, 2012, 08:04 »
Mili is now about 9 months old, and a lovely kitten/cat, she is more like a dog than a cat at times

I noticed yesterday her ears are ´bumpy´ not nice and smooth like they should be.... any suggestions before we take her off to the vets to get it checked?   I did think it might be a mite?  Anyone here have the same problem with their cats?

Not ticks is it?  When I lived in Malta years ago I thought my dog had lumps, turned out she had loads of ticks on her.

Not ticks Ann, just loads of small bumps under the skin. They are treated for ticks/fleas

Very strange!  Penny sometimes gets a swollen ear, which is like cauliflower ear.  the vet said its where she rushes through the trees and bushes and she does shake her head a lot.  One ear is now deformed where they treated it, and now the scar tissue is pulling the bottom of the ear inwards.  But that wasn't little lumps, it was one big one.

Are the bumps on the outside or the inside?

If she is a pale colour is it possible she could be peeling from sunburn?

Is she scratching her ears?

Sorry, last question, have you changed your washing powder or anything she comes into contact with? it could be an allergy.
The glass is neither half empty or half full - it is simply the incorrect size! Find a new glass!

I know it's not quite the same but my Nannys old dog used to get fluid build up between the layers of her ears wich then got drained and she had buttons sown onto them for a little while (by the vet not my nanny) can't remember what caused it tho

They look and feel normal today, maybe it is the heat!

That's like what Penny gets as I mentioned above.  Its caused by lots of head and ear shaking and if the dog runs through undergrowth a lot (usually!)
