Now that the main supermarkets all do their basics/economy fizzy water for 17p per two litre bottle, I'm not sure a sodastream could compete.  The only benefit I could see is if you don't use a 2 litre bottle up quickly enough for it not to loose its fizz towards the end - obviously the sodastream bottles are much smaller so you can just make up the amount you want.  However, the way we go through fizzy water in this house, that's not a problem I have to contend with!!   ;)

Not sure in that case!  I usually get mine from Sainsbury's, Tesco or Asda - they all sell it for 17p  :)

I think, it depends on how much you have to pay for the gas cylinders and how long they last. We got hold of an old-fashioned soda syphon a while back, the kind your parents used to have ;) and apart from the gas cylinders becoming increasingly difficult to source, the cost of them was becoming prohibitive.

We go through a lot too and I buy it in 6 packs of 500 ml, currently about £1.50 in T*sco and about £1.60 in C*-op (my only two choices of shop).

:)
