Can anyone tell me what shrub this flower is from please ?



Shrub is currently about 4ft tall and about 3ft across. I'm sure it's very obvious but only if you know stuff

Hmmm ... could be a Wegelia or possibly a Beauty Bush (Kolwitzia amabilis) bt others may have more of a clue. The height would depend on how old it is to a degree.

It's a Shrimp plant Justicia brandegeana (possibly).

It's in my parents' garden.

Found it in our ancient Hessayon shrub book.

We're going to request a cutting/seedling from it. It's very pretty and we have the space to let it grow full size.

If we succeed with it, I could offer a few up on the swap shop. But don't hold your breath.

They self seed like crazy in this area.

its common name is partridge berry and it used to be grown as cover for game birds - not a lot of people know that!!!. If it gets out of hand it can be cut back to ground level in early spring and away it goes again.
