I have a major problem with my broad beans. Until about 2 weeks ago they looked really healthy and were just starting to set beans, then suddenly the leaves started to go black and shrivel up and this has now spread to the whole plant. They just look all black and flowers are now dying. I pinched out the tops and there are no blackfly on them. I notice that a couple of other guys have the same problem but there are also healthy plots on the allotment. Any ideas???

it could be fungal due to wet weather.

That is almost certainly chocolate spot caused by a fungus.. In a normal year it appears a small chocolate coloured spots on the leaves and bean pods which do little harm. When it is warm and humid for prolonged periods the spots get bigger and join together to invade the whole leaf. There is nothing you can do about it.
