my meads stopped fermenting

can anyone tell me why my mead has stopped fermenting after only 6 weeks in the airing cupboard?there is about a quarter of an inch of sediment in the bottom of the 1 gallon demijohn,can I reactivate it by adding some more yeast?

It may have finished. Can you test the gravity with a hydrometer, or alternatively have a taste and see if it is still sweet?

I just racked it,and it is still fermenting very slowly.

It may be a bit too warm in the airing cupboard.

Yeast wants to work at approx 20c,  too warm and it's not happy, it's actually worse to be too hot than too cold.

Its definately stopped fermenting now,but its still cloudy,will it clear in the bottles?

Yes , rack it into a clean demi john add one campden tablet per gall.and leave for three months then repeat the process, after another three months then you can bottle it

Sound advice, but you may have to use a clearing aid from the home brew shop.
Once you have added the campden tablet, leave it for a week and if it doesn't start to clear on it's own you may need to help it.
