And it shows May as the last recommended sowing date ,  How far off do you go from the seed packet.
Thanks

Nothing in particular Spana, i have been trying the successive sowing root this year hahaha bet i still up up with it all at once. If the cabbages, caulie, turnips, kohl raib and sweet corn are all ready in the same week we will be really bored of them very quickly hahahah.

So am I, for different reasons, got caught 1 day last week with a cold night. Wouldn't believe it now with the weather over the past couple of days, all new sowings are showing already though  :)

Area counts as well Kris.  Yes you are in a better position than someone say in Scotland, as USUALLY the weather is warmer in Kent!  ;)

The packets don't say sow up to June if you live in the south.  I sowed the remaining parsnip seeds yesterday, as they are not worth keeping until next year.  And my 2nd sowing of leeks are just coming up.

They won't get huge, but they say small is beautiful don't they?   :D

Isn't it more to do with giving the plants enough growing season to grow and ripen?

Which depends as has been said, on the weather, the geography, how good your plot is and all the other tricks to extend the season.

So really it is predicting the weather for next September and October that is the issue here
Sometimes my plants grow despite, not because of, what I do to them.

Or is it more of predicting the weather in spring so you do not lose your germinated seeds which seems to happen the past 3 years with late bad weather?
