I have five cucumbers growing in a polytunnel. They are in large pots and staked with five feet  high canes. They have small flowers/cucumbers but do not have any tendrils. Is this normal for staked cucumbers? The lpants are La Diva.

I'm growing La Diva and my plants have tendrils, they're climbing up some chicken wire.

We also gave two to a neighbour and hers in her greenhouse have tendrils. I thought maybe its because they are tied to stakes they don't need support and haven't sent out tendrils. Maybe it's variations of temperature in polytunnel.

Cucumber free year for us they all died. I have decided lidl sell them for a reason

I'm growing 3 Diva cucumbers in pots and they are racing away up chicken wire with plenty of tendrils and I counted 5 flowers yesterday.  I guess if you don't have tendrills you'll just have to tie them in but I'm sure some will come along.  Good luck.

Mine are in the soil in the tunnel,they have tendrils but they are not wrapping around cane so I tie them on.
