Scratching me noggin at the amount of eggs
« on: February 28, 2012, 13:29 »
The girls have come back onto lay as of Monday last week, one day as per normal laying and all is well.

Yesterday I get up, walk over in me jim jams and let the girls out, there is an egg all nice and warm, collect it, poo pick etc and toggle off back home to me warm bed.

10am and its time for to go back over and give the coop its weekly clean, only when I pop the main door open I discover two eggs  ???
How can two chickens lay three eggs in the space of a couple of hours  ??? ??? ???

HF any ideas?

Well... a) one of the eggs was laid another day and was warm from being sat on.

b) if you notice a change in the shell quality, it is possible thet two eggs came from one hen, but I wouldn't expect another one tomorrow.

More likely though is that the egg was laid yesterday or overnight, and you didn't see it til this morning.

Pecky has been known to lay a soft shelled egg and a few hours later another. Yet to get 2 shelles eggs in a row, but I have had a triple yolk egg and from the size of one yesterday, prob got another.
