Sid becomes a dad
« on: May 19, 2010, 16:25 »
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if I need to separate new chicks from their dad when they are old enought to join the flock, or do we just make sure none of their eggs are hatched?  Sorry if I'm not making myself clear, I suppose I'm asking what happens if a chicken is sired by it's grandad?
Thanks in advance
Kathie

often in breeding they will mate a hen with her dad or grandad to keep certain traits in, but you shouldn't mate brother to sister.
Staffies are softer than you think.
