bit sad i know but just planted some basil seeds indoors, and when i looked at the sow by date (if thats what its called!!) it was june 06, oopps, do you think they will grow? :?

I've used 2 year old Basil seed before now with no problems.

(I'm moving this from 'Off Topic' - as it isn't! - to 'Grow Your Own'.)
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Germination rate might not be brilliant, but that said all old seed I chuck the whole lot in for this reason over-performs expectations. :D

You get that many Basil seed in a packet, you only need a very low % germintion to get sufficient plants.

I was talking - mysteriously - any type of seed there. My basil seeds I don't really know how old they are or when they supposed to have gone off, really. I bought them years ago and keep using them ever since.
