I planted some onion sets into the ground over a month ago. They all have healthy top growth but the bulbs are not getting bigger and some seem to have gone soft. Any ideas as to why this is and if you think they will eventually start to get bigger?

The leaves will take their nourishment from the bulb, in order to grow - it isn't until later in the year that the bulbs begin to fatten up again, so don't worry.
