Title: Tomato seedling woes
Post by: Anton on April 19, 2024, 18:53
Help please. I was so pleased that my tomato seedlings all emerged without any problems this year but now I see two of them have upturned leaves. Any ideas of the cause please?

Have they been in the sun, near the window perhaps.
Leaves tend to curl up with heat stress, or over feeding... But doubt you've fed them when they're so small, unless you added feed to the compost?

Thanks for the reply. No feeding. They are up in the attic behind a silver-papered board to intensify the light but the days are quite gloomy, so not too much heat and light. Could I be overwatering them? They are in little peat pots.

Thev others look fine, so doubt it's over watering, I'd hazard a guess that those ones have been hit with a burst of strong sunshine and shrivelled a little, they'll be ok!

May be a crack but I was reading that seedlings need water on the leaves and air around the roots rather than soaking wet soil. I've been doing this only misting from the top this year and so far so good
