Title: Cat with a gum problem

One of our cats has a problem with his gums and it's hurting him to eat - so it was off to the vet today who's given him a jab and all should be fine. Anyway, tonight he's just eaten but it must still be stinging (I've got a gum problem myself so I know how he feels). So he eats a couple of mouthfuls, then growls and hisses at the food.
Next mouthful, he hisses again and swipes at the bowl.  I felt really cruel laughing, but it was funny.

I had a bit of icecream hit the sensitive spot - didn't hiss but I nearly hit the bowl in temper.

Poor Mr Squeak  :( Hopefully he'll be back to his normal self in a few days.... he is being more cuddly at the moment, a sure sign he feels unwell  :lol:

I'd be laughing too John. He sounds a right character does Mr Squeak :)

He certainly is - if you don't let him have his own way he has tantrums. I wouldn't let him into the front bedroom the other day so he jumps straight legged into the air whilst spitting at me and then runs up and swipes me.

I love him to bits and wouldn't change his personality because just as he has a temper, he can be very loving. Nothing by halves is his mantra.

When one of ours had bad gums, the only thing she would eat was chopped up wafer thin ham or chicken or turkey.....  And a finger or two of cheese sauce went down okay too.   :lol:

Not a balanced diet, but who wants balanced when poorly??  

And Mr squeak will know that better than most .....

He is eating better this morning, just one little grumble. I'll check his mouth tomorrow in case the jab isn't working as the vet said.

We don't encourage 'treats' with Squeak as he was grossly obese when he came to us after a diet of fast food and kebabs combined with no exercise. He's only just discovering he can do things like jump up onto the worktops that Mr Blobby couldn't do.

Hopefully we'll have avoided diabetes and heart disease. Incidentally, he's always been fed ad-lib but not on rubbish burgers and so forth. Plus he can go outside so gets lots of exercise. I reckon he was a very bored cat before he came to us and his only hobbies were eating and sleeping
