They look good but for £1 in Poundland you can buy a roll of 8 40 litre rubble bags, which look a bit tougher and will definately do the same job if you make a few small holes in the bottom for drainage

The rubble sacks at Poundland are opaque blue. I can't say they won't let any light through but I certaintly can't see my hand through them. And the compost or whatever you grow in will act as a light proof barrier for all but the tubers on the very edge.

Just a thought.

I have never grown in bags but lots of people say it works so I was going to have a go with a few pink fir apple at home this year.

meant to say, the reason why I need the bag to grow my seed potatoes is becuase I probably have too many to grow in my 1/2 allotment plot now.  When I went to Wilko I could only get Desiree maincrop, but mine and hubbies favourite is Maris Piper, and they had some in today.  So now I have 3kg first earlies, and 6kg maincrop.  A little too much for me and hubby I fear.  Must have got carried away.  But I am guessing you can grow more in a smaller space in bags.  How many do you put in a bag?
