I've seen this description a few times now relating to sowing seeds and I don't understand it.  Can someone please explain how these drills are set out?

Planting Instructions: Dig narrow drills 1cm deep and 12cm apart with rows 30cm apart.

I thought a drill was a continuous line, ie, 1cm deep, forming a row which would be 30cm apart.  Where does the drills 12cm apart come into play.

Sorry if it's simple but I just can't picture it?!

Is the drill not 12cm wide??, what are the planting instructions from??

What seeds does it relate to? For some, such as runner beans you plant a double row, but the double rows need to be further apart....................if that makes sense. Mind you 1cm deep is a bit shallow for runners. It was just an example

The only thing that I can conclude from your instructions for carrots is Drills 1cm deep, 12cm apart if in a raised bed but 30cm apart if growing on the flat. 30 cm would be need if growing on the flat for you to be able to walk between the rows, if that makes ant sense.
