Title: Worming the hens.
Post by: Chicken star on July 31, 2012, 23:24
I have been buying worm powder for my chooks from the same place for over a year, it has recently been taken over by new owners. I went in today and asked for some wormer, they said that it is illegal for them to sell it and i should ring the vets.
I then rang the vets and they agreed and are selling it at nearly double the price of £23.50 for a 60g pot of flubenvet.

I can't belive it.
Does anyone else agree with this?
I've looked online and I can still purchase it on here but the delivery time is about 2 weeks

The new owners would have to apply for a licence to sell it and it must be expensive.  Our local Farmway store has just got a licence so now does 25kg bag of layers pellets with Flubenvet for £14.  It has made it so much easier to treat the chickens.  :D

I too ordered online and received it the next day (not amazon but most decent online companies are fairly quick these days as it's a competative market)

I just buy the Marriages pellets with flubenvet added at www.farmandpetplace.co.uk
They phone you first to check that you know what you're doing (somehow I got away with it!  ;)) and the delivery is cheap and fast.

Ah thank you so much! I will just have to order them online then.
ANHBUC, that sounds like a good and easy idea I will look out for them.

with the predosed pellets, do you have to feed all year or can you buy a bag once every 3 months as you would worm every 3 months or so?

Just use them when you need to to worm your chickens.  You can get them in different size bags so you don't waste any as they would go out of date.  I bought the 25kg bag and will be passing on any unused to a friend who has chickens.  :)
