Newbie to forum and allotment life
« on: August 28, 2018, 08:28 »
::) Good Morning, we are a small family who have recently taken on a much neglected plot. Much clearing had been done over the past month (who knew bricks and glass could get buried so deep) and yesterday saw the siting of a small raised bed for spring onions. A lot of our preparation, planning and growing will be hit and miss, hence joining this forum 😐 We decided to take on the allotment after a little 💡 moment whilst I was moaning about buying kale and spinach for our bunnies and the amount of plastic wastage. We are a predominantly vegetarian family with one big (occasional) carnivore and one little pescatarian so having an allotment just makes so much sense.

Welcome to the site :)

Allotments are quite an investment in time and effort, but are very rewarding in harvest and are good for the soul  ;)

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new lotty  :D

You will find that unexpected stuff keeps coming to the surface …

It's a great time of year to start getting on top of a plot and plan for next year's growing.  Don't do too much at once, and take piccies as you go along - sometimes you'll think you've made little progress, then you look back and see how far you've actually come!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
