« on: September 21, 2010, 15:58 »
can I over winter them in their pots rather than taking cuttings as I dont really have the room ??  I dont think they are the tuberous type?????????
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

I'm going to give it a go in my greenhouse. I'll give them a good trim and water them sparingly and see how we go.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I used to work in a parks department and every year rescued several big bags of dumped begonias. I put them into 3" square pots and left them out in trays, then picked off the stalks as they died to discourage rotting. let the compost dry completely.

In spring i picked them out of the compost and checked for signs of vine weevil. Healthy corms were potted in fresh compost and watered and I got a very good success rate. I kept some corms going for 5 years, starting 10p-sized and ending up 4"or so across
