I bought their collection - double check what's in it as if I recall after much hassle I discovered (MoS told me)  all 3 varieties were actually summer fruiting and there are no autumn ones.  >:(

Good point Lardman (and MoS). As far as I know Glen Clova is summer fruiting and I'm sure a quick Google will help you discover what the other two varieties are. Personally I think I would be a bit disappointed if at least one variety wasn't autumn fruiting.

If Glen Clova, Malling Jewel and Tulameen are Autumn fruiting from August to October I'll eat my hat! (Well, the latter part of their fruiting might be in August ...)

My advice would be to choose what varieties you want and then buy those.  I think 10 canes, of a single variety, is a decent number for a crop large enough to feed several people at each picking, and then how ever many varieties you want to span the cropping season - I have 10 varieties (10 canes or each variety, originally) which start with the earliest Summer variety - taking over from Strawberries) to the latest Autumn variety which is too late, in most season, to mature well before cold and frosts arrive ...

That collection from J Parkers is 73p per cane (10 each of three varieties)., Bare root nurseries sell named varieties at this time of the year for a little over £1 (bought in qty or 10-ish)

Ashridge Trees £13.50 / 10
Blackmoor (Autumn Bliss) £13.20 / 10

J Parkers don't have a good reputation for plants, and personally all I would buy from them is bulbs.

thankyou both - think I will look to buy 10 of each as you recommend , probably paying a bit more will prove to be more cost effective in the long run  ;)
