How much wood

I've just finished chopping and stacking about 38 000 kg of oak , beech and hornbeam ( approx 50 cubic metres ) which I hope will last us more than one winter , we have 4 woodburners to feed so get through quite a bit of wood , in our kitchen we only burn the sawmill offcuts of pine which we dry first for a year but it takes forever to prepare , it is very cheap though at around £20 for 3 cubic metres . The dry hardwood costs around £30 per metre which I didn't think was bad , how much does wood cost everywhere else ?. :)

Round here it's £50-£75 for "a load" which is as much as fits in a pickup truck approx 1.25 tons

We have gas. And a bill every 3 months. The hardest thing is opening the meter cupboard.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Its a difficult call, to say how much you'll need. I'd say keep gathering as long as you have room, it'll always carry over.

Here's a few pics of my Dad's newly renovated woodshed.

It'll be great for filling this winter, for the '09 - '10 season.

Cheers

 :)
Best Regards,

spud

  pathetic. Don't get me wrong I can see the need for planning permission etc esp for large developments but for 1 house in the middle of nowhere hurting no one   hope the snitch is happy with themselves.

Bit like the community that built homes in a wood in Wales?? they had acres of private woodland the homes where made from mainly felled trees etc, and some bod from the council spotted them when up flying looking for that kind of thing. Our council uses satellite imagery for planning queries etc
