My food is looking at me!
« on: April 05, 2020, 11:15 »
I was putting the new fermented garlic away in the bottom of the fridge and noticed that my pickled eggs were staring at me.

Don't make eye contact!

Good morning  Daniel,
They look like the fish in the "Springfield" river, downstream from Mr Burns's  Nuclear plant in the Simpsons!

Cheers,  Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

The three-eye one certainly does look suspicious (and depressed).

No more sneaking midnight snacks from the fridge with that crowd watching me!

The seasoning in these eggs is simply garlic, black peppercorns and turmeric in apple cider vinegar and salt. It is diluted a little with water to make it more "kid friendly" according to the recipe which means it needs to be stored in the fridge but is more palatable to adults who don't want the full on vinegar attack of a traditional pickled egg!

May I suggest a tiny bit of Beluga caviar just so as to enhance the delicacy that's waiting to be consumed by some well-known TV gastronome but just one more thing. When they've over-imbibed on the vino-delecto from your cellar (possibly purloined from some of Growster's home-brew ) then they start to sing "Whale Meat Again!"
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Eat them quick, before they develop hands, arms, legs and feet and come after you. Once they get thumbs it's game over.

Good point. I'll defrost a chunk of yeast and bake something tomorrow.

I did consider swirling the jar to dislodge the peppercorns but I read on the internet that this will only cause them to mutate into new and potentially more dangerous forms.
