Title: Rotted tree chipping - safe to put in the run?
Post by: SusieB on November 07, 2009, 11:39
I have some one year old tree chippings, I have just put them in the chicken run to soak up the mud.  The hens are loving it because it is full of worms and crawlies.  A bit belatedly I am wondering if semi-rotted sycamore tree chippings are safe for them?

Don't worry - it's fine.  The weathering process will have got rid of any natural toxins in the wood.

I bet your chicks are having the time of their lives in it
