as a child one of my winter / spring jobs was collecting soil from mole hills for my farther to use in his seed trays mr mole has already sieved it  and they seem to only be in the best soil chasing worms

Great idea stuart!  And I would've wasted my time taking soil from the veggie patch for seed trays then move the mole hills to the patch when re-seeding the grass  :blink:

my mother used to do this till she got told off by a local farmer - she had clay soil ( a few yards down the road they used to make bricks -- so very heavy clay). She found a new source of loamy soil - my garden and would leave with a carrier bagful most days - in the end I used to buy all her potting compost as and when I got mine and drop it off for her  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

our local farm was more than happy for me to collect it and flatten the others to save them the job  :D

Simple rule of thumb ask before taking - same as with things from skips.
Taken over neglected veg garden at new home. Enemy number 1 Ground Elder. Then there is the furry terror - bunnies - to contend with!
Made a start have beds established but moved in too late for serious planting. We shall see what 2015 brings.
