Should be fine I think, it's just frost that can make them bolt and I know none is forecast for me at least.

I am letting mine grow on for another week or so before putting in the ground as they are still a bit small and I'll cover them with fleece/cloche  which I always recommend for any spring planted crops

They are 6" tall now and will be going in to a raised bed covered with fine insect mesh netting which the manufactures say will give protection against mild frosts, heavy rain, wind and hail. I think I might go for it !

we tried something different last year and are doing again this year we like lolla rossa lettuce but so do the slugs I cut the bottom out of plastic pots about 6-8 inch dia. then with a brush go around pot just below ridge on pot with vegetable oil then dust with salt this gives a band of salt around pot the slugs and snails wont go past this with carefull watering this lasts some while and helps keep lettuce or rocket clean. nothing worse than slime on what you will eat.  good luck. sorry meant to say stand pots on veg bed fill with compost.

Flippin' heck! That's some savvy squirrel!! Just hope you have a firearms licence and another one for whatever you're going to load it with. May I suggest either a punt gun or, even better, a Martini Henry as used by the British in the Zulu war of Rorke's Drift. Can't just remember the exact model but it was mentioned in the film which is one of my favourites. Maybe it was a .455???

We've used Haith's as there are many choices for which birds you tend to get in the garden.
