Can anyone ID this chicken please

Well went down to the lottie to tuck the chooks up for the night and #1daughter spotted a chook in next doors lottie.

Now, I know what all of his hens look like and this wasn't one of them, and on top of that, it was outside of his run, so it must have got in from one of their neighbours.

The trouble is we don't know anyone with hens like this.

can anyone ID this bird please so that I have a starting point when asking around as to whose it is!! (this isn't a pic of the actual bird, just one I've found whilst googling that is the same breed - the place I got the pic from didn't say what it was either.

I was thinking thinking Australorpe but the feathers are close to the body, Black plymouth rock maybe?

what colour legs does she have? Australorps have slate coloured legs and although a soft feather breed feathering can be quite close to the body. Eyes are brown and slightly prominent.
No idea about a Plymouth tho.

from memory I think they were grey. They certainly didn't stand out visually so I think they were grey.

whatever she is she's a fine specimine and I'd be happy to keep her until the real owner comes along..... whenever that might be!

Looks like a black rock to me. If she is a "little madam" then she definetely is!

she's back with her rightful owner today; it seems she does belong to the guy next door, I just mustn't have taken that much notice of her before :?

Tonight 6 of his others were out and about so I guess that they've found a handy hole to get in and out of - it was like a Benny Hill romp trying to get them all back into the run :roll:

Shes beautiful. I crossed my silverlaced wyandotte cockerel with a maran and ended up with 3 looking just like her! And they are good layers.
