Title: sweet pea

having received  Kings Autumn seed catalogue I see a sweet pea bred by Andrew Bean in memory of  garden broadcaster and garden writer Peter Seabrook so I've ordered some to try because I always found peter to say it as it was he called a spade a spade not like some of um on the tele these days

I must say sweet peas are something I've never grew my wife is the flower girl I'm only the pot boy so I'm going to put on a happy face and ask her nicely if she will grow me some sweet peas apart from Seabrook's Fantasia I've also gone with some dwarf varieties for our tubs so what's the going rate for sweet pea growing a meal out  :D the local fish and chip shop comes to mind  :lol:

I've also seen those in King's and, not being very happy with my previous attempt to buy a mix which turns out to be mostly pink and white ones with few or no frills on the petals, I'm going to select some from there for next year. I would say your bet bet is to visit several nice pubs and choose one that is within walking distance of where you live. At least you can say you've done a quality control trial beforehand!!  :lol:

Anything in memory of Peter Seabrook is well worth a pop, and hopefully his estate will benefit, as he was vilified for many of his 'normal' views! He was a fabulous gardener and helped so many newcomers to start and flourish! I always look at his books first, especially now we have a reduced veg plot, as he excelled on telling normal citizens in plain English, how to get a satifying crop from just a few square yards!

I'll look these seeds up - thanks Rowland!

very well put growster couldn't  agree more with your comments Peter will be sadly missed in the horticulture sector and us would be gardeners

I'm probably going barmy Rowland, but I've been through the catalogue several times, and can't find the seeds you mention!

I think the money goes to the RHS Floral Fantasia garden.
