My Asparagus ferny tops are still healthy and green. Do I wait until they yellow before cutting them down or do I cut them down anyway?

Or should I of done it months ago!

I would leave them to die back, Fletch.

They're still feeding the roots so wait until they're brownish. I leave mine all winter and clear in the spring.

Sorry to go against the advice given and I do stand to be corrected but it is normal to cut back asparagus in autumn to about 2" sticking up from the ground once they have turned yellow.
In order to ensure  a good grop the next season they must have been allowed to turn Ferny,this is what you are cutting back.

In the spring the spears should start poking up,its best to hoe a little ridge of soil over them then.
After cutting the plant must once more turn ferny in order to start the process all over again.

General gardening consent is the dying back leaves feed the crown.

They just never die back 'in the autumn'.

Not cutting them at all, won't make any dif in this respect, leave them alone.
