hello and why are my greenhouse tomatoes wilting?
« on: August 08, 2012, 17:46 »
Hello from Rod.

I live in north derbyshire and have had an allotment for 11 years.  We have been away and on our return one of our tomato plants in the greenhouse is wilting.  No other signs of disease but some of the others have shown signs of blight.  Whilst we were away a neighbour watered the plants and they show no signs of under or over watering.  This morning I sprayed them all with Dithane 945 to hit the blight but wonder if anyone has any idea what the problem could be.  The tomato plant nearest to the affected plant is now also wilting again with no signs of disease.  The glasshouse is shaded and today I left the door open for extra ventilation.

Welcome to the site  :D

I'll move this over to the Growing in Greenhouses board for the people there to have a look at; feel free to pop back into the Welcome board to introduce yourself again.

By the way, you may not be aware but it has been illegal to use Dithane since the end of last year when its licence was revoked.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hi Yorkie,

Many thanks.  As with most gardeners it was at the back of the cupboard.  I will dispose of it safely!

Thanks also for moving the question to the greenhouse section.  I am still a very green radish!

No worries, you'll soon find your way around!

It may help others to answer your questions in the future (and to remember where you are) if you add your location to your forum profile - just click your username to edit it - as sometimes climate / location impacts on growing conditions.
