When to remove tomatoes
« on: July 02, 2012, 14:11 »
I've got a few cherry tomatoes that are turning orange/red and need to know when they should be removed?  Do you tend to take off a vine at a time when they have all ripened?

Hopfully you can see the link

Also my peppers seem to be ok as well.

(I edited you posts to show pictures, rather than links  :) )

I just remove individual fruits as they ripen  ;)

Thanks for doing that.  The reason why I use links is because it's a pain to have to reduce file to 128kb, how do you do it?

I suppose if I wait until the whole vine is ready the early ones might go over?

all I did was put the [img] tags around the link ( click icon above the  :) above the message box)

To be honest - I don't know if it was luck that they were the right size or whether the site software resizes them now  :D

Sorry you find it a pain  ::)

Just click on this button just above the text box, then past your link.  And as MoS thought, the system will do the rest.

Not so painful really is it  ;)

Tomatoes ready to pick?

Simple... when one or more fruit look ready pick 'em. Don't wait for a whole truss unless you find one truss that is fully ripened.

Pick away - a few each day - as you need them - you'll soon get the hang of telling if they are at their best.

Enjoy!!!  ;)

But it is a pain when the file size was limited to 128Kb, but know I've seen how easy it is to insert the image it's not a pain  :tongue2:

The filesize is only limited when you select additional options and browse your computer to attach an image direct from your computer. In this case there are various free bits of software available to do the image resizing for you. If you use a photohosting site, as you did, then it doesn't apply - just post a link with image tags around it.

My Cherry tomatoes are doing really well now, picked off a few today, even the cherry plant outside had one ready which I just ate.  The money makers are taking their time to change.
