What does your PSB look like now?

<Mine was put in early and got very big very quickly, I have never really fed it.. I did dress it  with lime in the early autumn time. but nothing since. It looks healthy and it does seem to be forming some kind of 'spear' shoots I have seen one purple centre in one of the shoots, but if I am expecting them to be harvestable in January shouldn't they look a bit more like spears?
Am I being impatient? I guess it might be a symptom of nothing much moving at this time of year.
Please tell me it will crop,  :?

Mine looks healthy enough but is less than a foot off the ground!

Not sure why but I thought it would be much bigger by now... was planted from plug plants in early September with plenty of lime and mulched with compost.

How big should they be at this time of year?  I was hoping to have some for Christmas (which is only 30 days away!   )

loubylou29 yes they probably will crop,

SnooziSuzi depends on the variety on size etc

Pic of my PSB a couple of weeks ago. Definitely a spring crop, much to early for the flowers yet. Sprouts are good for go from now onwards though.

Does anyone else find they need to stake all their brassicas :?:  I reckon it is better than having to really compact the soil to stop them rocking around too much.

Mine's got little heads on it, I tried one today, it was lovely, I'll have to try to leave it alone until Spring though!

Mine are about 3 foot high, and tiny little purple sprouts are just appearing on the stems on the junction of the leaf stalks and the main stems.
Excited as I have never grown these before and these ones were just rejects that had been left over after three gardeners had taken their pick,

If it's ready then use it otherwise it will be wasted.

There is a purple-sprouting variety that can ready at this time of year.  Off the top of my head - 'Rudolph'.

Very true, regardless variety, use when ready, only need a few mild days to open up and be useless.
