Feeding

Because of various reasons including health problems, we aren't going to be able to dig in any manure until Spring now, it's my 2nd year on the plot and I haven't done it yet, am I risking it or do you think early Spring will be OK to do it?

Thanks.

There are one or two plants that donot like it if you have just manured, carrots etc, other than that it will be ok,but try to wait until the soil has started to dry before you start digging it in in spring.  Otherwise you may do more harm than good.

If you intend to grow spuds or runner beans then just lay it in the bottom of a trench as usual.
If you want to add something to the soil now and you donot want to have to bend, you could try a concentrated manure like 6X (thats what it is called).  You only need handfulls to scatter around instead of barrow loads.
The reason I am saying this is if you suffered the amount of water on your plot that most of us did this season, then the soil might be a bit washed out and need a top up of essential minerals.

You donot have to do this but if you feel you just need to do something its a little job that will pay dividends and help all those lovely earth worms.
