You folk are so lucky finding those great mushrooms. I have a few strange ones growing on my front lawn where my huge old acer tree used to stand, but with my luck they're probably very poisonous

SG and Yorkie, I too agree. I remember a kind friend giving me a puffball mushroom when I was pregnant and suffering from severe morning sickness. I got as far as making a lovely mushroom soup and then the nausea hit. Gross. The offending soup pan was removed to the very bottom of the garden. Needless to say I haven't had a single mushroom since!

:( I have a work colleague who has just found herself pregnant and is not having a good time :pukel: of it. I thought you were about to say that this is a good remedy
-
Noooo - stay away from the mushrooms if you are pregnant!! No obviously the morning sickness depends on the person but nothing really worked for me to stop it. I lost loads of weight though which was a good thing because I needed to and ended up having healthier pregnancy as a result. Culminated in planned home delivery with just gas and air after nightmare c-section first time round. Sorry, I digress!!
sorry for your friend's sickness;it's just horrible :x . hopefully it'll pass after month 3 :D I've just remembered ice pops helped!! but not mushrooms :D

Where I used to work they had Saturday morning mushroom forays and we'd have a cook-up. Chanterelles were quite common and when you think how much they cost to buy  Gorgeous they are too. We had slippery jacks but I didn't like those, birch boletus, cocky lads, shaggy ink caps, puffballs (I didn't like those), field mushrooms which were delicious, and we got some lovely big fat horse mushrooms also delish.
Our chaps were taught by the Polish guys who knew all about foraging. They used to pickle them, but they look very strange in the jar :D
-
I don't like Slippery Jacks either Compost!!....they really are very slimey in your mouth
-
you end up with a pan of slime
I love the field mushrooms, the flavour is fabulous. They go black when cooked :D

We're hoping to go foraying again this weekend in a different location....I hope we are as lucky!!!! :D

Good luck :D Ooooh I could just eat some creamed blue stalks :D
