I was brought up on diamonds the ones that look like mincers seem to make diamonds they are dearer but diamonds are a girls best friend.

Diamonds, diamonds, diamonds, they have to be diamonds.  It makes them taste completely different and soooooo superior !

I have to agree with the diamonds - not sure they change the taste though! :D

We've has a little square been cutter for years - literally!
I remember us using it over 30 years ago and it's still going strong!

That picture dosen't do justice really.  It strips the spines off and chops them into perfect  slices for steaming.  Your mums just didn't have the right tools.

Tools, one knife did it all Bob, maybe we should go back to the old ways they had far more room in their kitchens than i have  :tongue2:

Dishwasher what dishwasher, i dont trust them to get my dishes clean enough. I have a husband, and he knows how to cut beans into diamonds too  :tongue2:

I cut them into diamonds when they new and young, but put them through the slicer when they are getting a bit more stringy.

Thank you, all - and D.D. the beans did get blackfly a couple of weeks ago which I sprayed with soapy water.  Think I'll stick to using a knife and making them into long diamonds like mum did.  (Partner  8) cut them into chunks though last night! but they still tasted great  :)
Heck, yes,  I'm SHORT.  God only lets things grow until they're PERFECT. Some of us didn't take as long as others  :-)
