Too late to sow courgettes?

Unless we are guaranteed to get a continuously warm summer I suspect you might be a bit late. Having said that if you really want to give it a go you might just be successful.

I planted out my courgettes on 27th May as small plants (can't find the date I actually sowed them though) and they have just started to produce courgettes.

if you've got the space I'd give it a go.

Nothing ventured nothing gained 

I put two seeds in a hole on the edge of the sweetcorn bed, as I lost a plant overnight so had a gap.  I figured it was worth a punt.  Lots of evil blue pellets added too in case of hungry slugs.  My little boy said a prayer for the seeds to grow (and no, I didn't ask him, he just offered!)

Thank you everyone for your replies. Having read the first reply I drove around like a lunatic on my lunch break yesterday, went to another 2 huge garden centres who had no courgettes but both plenty of cucs, like over run with them! thinking that was it I drove back to work a different route and spotted a tiny garden centre I pulled in and low and behold the 2 last courgette plants were there waiting for me buy 1 get 1 free both battani planted them straight out yesterday evening lets hope they survive!

Will give sowing some of the more unusual courgettes a go in the hope we have a warm autumn, sure I took a seed out of the seed parcel, have a mini gh so hopefully it will catch up
