 Hi, I know it's a bit early but can anyone give me some tips to get the best out of my strawberry's, last year was a bit disappointing with the new plants i bought.

first year is not the best//// will be better this year  give them a good feed

Growmore, BF&B or any general fertiliser would be ok. Chicken manure pellets are high in nitrogen, so they're not ideal.

Thanks I think I did give them some chicken pellets probably didn't help,a change this year and maybe better crop thanks all.

My brother in law has just put his in on his new allotment, I like this idea so I'm going to nick it and put something similar in my fruit cages once they are built.

I was going to try something like that. My idea was to have the troughs running down the centre of my raised beds. Then I started growing the strawberries in growbags on shelving but found the watering to be a bit of a pain, so the idea went on the back-burner. Let us know how you get on with it. The other thing I found was the strawberries didn't have the same flavour as the same variety grown in the ground.
