How to string onions
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:08 »
Hi all, came across this yesterday.
The late great Jack Hargreaves.

Thought some of you might be interested.....although I expect most of you know already  :tongue2:

Informative & they look good, although as he says at the end, " a frame & a bit of chicken wire works better" :D

Guess what I'll be doing in a few days, hopefully!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

John has a very good explanation of how to string onions in one of his books. (Not sure which, probably Monty by Month)

I used to love watching Jack Hargreaves!

That looks good too!  If I ever grow onions again, I'll try that.  Usually I cheat by putting them in a clean pair of old tights and hanging the tights up!

Explanations are ok, but I find a visual demonstration much easier to follow...I just thought it might be of interest.... :)

Is the Monty you refer to, Monty Don?
