I don't have a drink problem. I drink, I get drunk, I pass out. No Problem.

I went yesterday lunch for gooseberries, wanted 4 but only got 2, someone had beat me to em! They had everything else, bluebery, bramble, red & blackcurrant and raspberry (my local nursery is selling rasps at 70p a cane tho) but consoled myself with a plum tree... off up the allotment to plant em whilst the sun is shining!

ruby, you are experiencing everyone first opinion of Lidl - then you get hooked.

a wide range of veg, half the price of other supermarkets.

Brilliant German brewed beer.

Deli counter witha fab selection of cold meats.

Potato salad - really waxy spud, and creamy sauce - you must try it; ditto coleslaw.

tomato sauce- very tomatoey - can give heinz a run for it's money.

Fruit juices - wide selection.

But.......I've never managed to find a good bottle of red wine, I only tried about 3 times, and now don't even look at it.

I'm sorry, but I'm a big fan - just wish they had one in Bath.

Don't forget to take your own carrier bags folks!

Wouldn't be anything to do with the fact that they're not English would it Ruby?

Went to Lidl for the first time ever today and got two fruit trees.  What a strange place.  But, I have to say that as a person that frequents second hand shops I found it enlightening.  Lots of very good bargains to be had and a good range of stock.  Odd to us used to English supermarkets but well worth a second look.
Cheese makes everything better.

I bought a variety of fruit trees to make my new orchard (grand name for a few trees)    from Lidl and they are doing well.

Well that is apart from the one my son strimmed when he came down to help us clear the land     bless him

Our had another load in last time I went so might get a few more.  I got Bramley Apple, Pear trees and Eating apple (can't remember which names) great value I think they were about 3.99 each.

Woolies also had them and Poundland & Wilko's had had great fruit bushes all of which are growing fine in the wilderness I loosely call a garden

They're going to be opening a new Aldi near us so I'd love to know what they're like.  Did you get there Ruby Red?  What did you think?

After a tour of 4 Lidls I managed a cherry tree and 2 raspberries. All the blueberries and rest of the raspberries had gone.

I have to disagree there - I cant eat the potato salad - just tastes odd to me for some reason.

BUT try their luxury caramel/shortcake biscuitys - about 80p for four. Oh my God! Thick tasty caramel wonderful buttery base - rich chocolate. Absolutely to die for.

I bought a gooseberry and a Mock Orange the other day - and some nasturtium seeds for 30p a pack!

Must be our Eastern European taste buds Gobs.  Their black forest ham and salamis are excellent too.

Yes, and without going into any deep fermentation, the pickles and juices are outstanding.
