Greenhouse citrus trees

Is it possible to grow lemons, limes or oranges in a run down and cold greenhouse?

I'm going to grow heritage tomatoes and salad crops in the greenhouse next year but wanted to add a new element.  Would it work and if so can anyone give me any hints or tips? :D

I *thought* that they weren't frost hardy but happy to stand corrected.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Lemons can take some cold, not freezing as last winter but they are a little hardier then we assume.

I think they tend to grow at altitude so will survive some low temperature.

Limes and Oranges are not and need heat.

If you try growing bitter oranges (as for marmalade) they can take about -10°, as long as they've not got wet feet.

It freezes regularly in Spain, where they grow like weeds.  Got a lovely perfume, too.

lemons and oranges grew where I lived in Greece, and there was the occasional frost and even the odd snow shower, and the trees were fine. But agree last years cold would have been too much for them.

What they really don't like is sitting in cold wet, low lying soil  :(

When house hunting in France in Feb - all citrus trees were indoors, they came out for the summer.  I would presume it would take sun to ripen the fruit, not just  heat that may be found in the greenhouse in the UK,  but I stand to be corrected.

Yes, I don't think you could get away with having them outside paermanently, either in UK or in Northern France.   I brought mine on Thursday morning (after the frost  ::)  ).
