Hi, all.
I recently bought a Greenkey 8 litre long reach galvanised watering can from amazon (I certainly wouldn't recommend one because after sending one back and getting a replacement, my replacement is also leaking)
The can is leaking from where the spout meets the body of the can and against my better judgement I'm going to make do and mend it myself.
So I'm asking for ideas on how best to seal the leak... anybody?

I would imagine it needs welding, do you know any friendly welders?

I have some absolutely ancient galvo watering cans which were all gifted to me and one I inherited with the house. I adore them! It says something about the build quality of things these days doesn't it. It's such a shame. I would not repair it myself. I would get a refund and look for a more reliable make. So sorry to hear of your woes :(

be very careful welding galvanised as the fumes given off are toxic.

maybe an epoxy repair putty would be a better bet or liquid metal in this instance, if it were a rust hole in a flat piece I would use a large penny washer with a rubber washer each side and whack a bolt through to compress it all.

If it is just a seam leaking a tube of Aquasure might do the trick, it's used to repair wet suits, waders and inflatable boats.
It is flexible so may be better than a rigid epoxy.
Aquasure has never let me down in the past ! :)

I repaired my can with a some poundland acrylic sealant caulking. Has not leaked once since.
It had about 20+ little holes before the repair.

I used gloss paint to seal my dad's old Haws can that was leaking. Poured the paint in when inside of can was bone dry, swirled it about enough to cover the leaking joints, let it dry for 24hrs then did it again. So far it's lasted 2 years without a leak!
