Title: Condensation in metal shed
Post by: noshed on January 11, 2009, 21:45
Our allotment shop is in a metal shed which is soaking wet at the moment. Anybody got any experience of reducing condensation? Polystyrene sheets have been mentioned -would this work and what would you stick in on with?

I had a concrete garage with a metal roof a real pain in the bum it was, I removed all the filler from around the edges under the corrugated sheet, this increased air flow  which helped a little. Then I screwed on marine ply to the joists to create a false ceiling. it still dripped water onto the ply, but not on to my head

The same thing is happening in my greenhouse....and it's dripping onto lettuce............not a good idea.

Too late this year but if i put bubble wrap up will that stop the condensation.

May do, but take a look at your ventilation

like richyrich said its all to do with the lack of ventilation

you will need to put vents in the sides to let the air move around in a metal shed i would say to put two in everside one at roof hight and one on the floor
and see if that helps but i would not cover it

you con buy round soffit vents from builders merchantsand use a holesaw to the diamiter, they are 1or2inch round with small mesh front
try and get some polystyrene in 1inch thick sheets and stick it to the inside of the roof to insulate, use silicone as no nails will burn into it. :D :D :D
