Title: Feather pecking
Post by: soya-bean on June 26, 2010, 13:21
My apologies if this question has popped up before.  All of our chuckies have a habit of pecking at the tail feathers and 'thinning' out the feathers.  However, one of them is losing more feathers than I think is acceptable.  She has a somewhat bald bum and quite a few feathers are missing down each side of her neck.  What can we do to stop this?

To start with try some anti peck spray or gentian violet spray (which stains like hell).  They  supposedly don't taste nice to the others so may prevent it.

Bumper bits will stop it, but I bought some and couldn't bring myself to put them on the girls (you fit them round the beak and into their nostrils).

ukadex is a spray, stinks like really bad stale tobacco, but it works, make sure you are well covered as it will not wash off, it will need to wear off
