Hi, can anyone help me out here? We put black fabric down on our allotment last year and it just ripped and shredded in the wind. So we tried a different type - the woven one with green stripes on it but after it being down for the winter it has shredded on the cut ends and there are threads of it all over the plot which will no doubt get tangled up in the mower and strimmer no matter how diligently we pick it up!
I can’t see anyone else online has encountered this problem and it’s so annoying! The only thing ai can think to do is go round every single piece and seal it with a lighter. (We have lots of different areas covered with paths in between so there are about 12 separate pieces that would have to be taken up and done).
Anyone else got any advice on what to do or an alternative to use? It’s so frustrating and a lot of extra work.

It's a common problem - I always use, and advise others to use, a soldering iron to cut and seal the edges.

As per MoS - melt with a cheap soldering iron rather than cut. If you turn the edge under like a hem and peg through it that also keeps the cut edge from flapping around.

I cut mine with a cheap gas blow torch from an online 'auction' site.
