I have thought about it for years. But I went to the county show and had a chat to the guys & girls in the bee tent. So I am doing a course this winter and may have a go. Its a lot cheaper to start now I think than it was. And the little bugs that kill them off are loosing the battle.

Highly recommend you take the beekeeping course first, Frankie, or you'll be wasting your time and money. My good friend keeps bees (over 20 yrs now) and even she regularly updates her info as there are so many fatal diseases and enemy pests which keep appearing and killing her bees. Even some of the major bee suppliers suffer losses now and some of their queens aren't as hardy as promised. It's good to know your basics before putting the bees to risk.

hi there yes i keep bees and i would advise you to take a course but a winter course? you want a spring summmer course so you can experiance hands on work. unfortunatly you are miss informed about the bugs now loosing in fact there not lossing in some parts there winning and watch out as another type of bug is on its way. it is a fasinating hobby drop me a pm and i will go into more detail if you want.
alan
ps you need the ideal location is not true some london beekeepers use the varanders on high rise flats in the center of london.
