Just like to know if some breeds are better for bacon and some for pork?
It may be a daft question but someone told me there is a difference
It's better to burn out than to fade away !!     ;)

Dual purpose pigs that are suitable for both pork and bacon are British lop, saddleback, tamworth, OSB, GOS, boars are ok for pork, but if you want bacon better to have a gilt, as you need to keep them a few weeks more, and a lot of people say that they get boar taint.
Pork pigs include Middle white and the Berkshire they reign supreme.
Large Blacks produce a long lean bacon carcass if left to gro on a bit longer.
we own Mangalitza's we have 3 boars going off next week for slaughter, not tried the meat yet but have been reliably informed that the meat is beautiful. and of course they are one of the few pigs that will produce a Parma style ham when cured.
i can recommend OSB as we had 3 of these that we fattened up for the freezer, best pork and bacon i have tasted.
Hope this helps you decide on the breed for you.

Had a little experience of saddlebacks, gloucester old spot and tamworths and find the GOS excellent eating, but the tamworths are too thin and wiry to bother with.
Cheese makes everything better.
