Oh so that's how it goes!!!!

As you can see, after nearly 2 weeks, the forest of weeds our ex-battery hens had has nearly disappeared!!!  But they are a lot happier now and can do thing they've never done before, like running and flapping wings, and digging for worms, but they like it better if I dig the worms up for them!!!! lol

Are you getting any eggs from them yet?, if so how many?

We are struggling with 3 bantam and 2 duck eggs a day. That said we are getting some more ducks tomorrow.

Which end of Lincolnshire is the Co-ordinator, I ask becasue we are in West Yorkshire and so if its the top end we are not far and I would like to get some Rescue girls to live on the allotment.

Hi Caroline

John lives down Hoop Lane just off Langton by Wragby, east of Lincoln.  I spoke to him last night, and he'd been let down by 2 people so had 75 chooks left from his last rescue.  He's homed all of them now except 6, so if you'r interested?????  His phone number is under regional co-ordinators on the BHWT website.   I've seen your name on there haven't I?

His next rescue is in November.  The farmer he gets them from outs 3,000 hens every 7 weeks, but I don't think John has the space to take the whole 3,000!!!!!

Thats still alot of eggs in one day, is it omelets for dinner every day.

I'll get in touch with him for the November collection as I'm still waiting for the council to put the Shed and Hen house on my plot (we are only allowed theirs, and not our own.)

Oh YOUR Floella????  Confusing person!!!

I'm me, whereever I go!!!! lol

Hi Floella, yes, they are lovely arn't they?  When we were in Essex, we used to buy our chickens from a free range farmer, okay, they had a better life than the little ex-battery, but they still get killed at 72 weeks.  But these little darlings are soooo pleased to see the sky and dirt and grass and to be able to dig and flap their wings and just be a chicken for the first time!!!!
